I got this email from my sister-in-law and thought it was an excellent idea to this nations financial crisis......

Bakersfield
On our way home we stopped in Bakersfield. We visited with Grandma Brandt and Aunt Linda. These are pictures that Rob took with them while he was working in Bakersfield earlier that week. I can't find the pictures that we took when we visited. Anyway, it was nice to meet Rob's dad's side of the family.

The dumbest "ghost town" ever
When I was younger, one of my favorite things to do was go out on the desert with my dad. We would rock hound, go to topaz mountain, go to ghost towns, or shoot guns. I loved these weekends. We would wake up early and go to the gas station. My dad would buy anything that I wanted. I usually got a slurpee and beef jerky or nachos. He usually got a soda, beef jerky, and a Hersey's chocolate bar with almonds. I have many many good memories doing these type of things with my dad. So....when Joe and Linds came down for Labor Day and the local hot springs was closed for construction or something, I thought we should find a cool ghost town and explore. I figured that Southern Utah had to have some pretty cool ones. Now, I don't have the neat book that shows pictures so I got on the trusty internet. I saw two places. One of which was Silver Reef. The pictures on the internet made it look really cool and the description wasn't lacking either. I picked this one and off we went. The internet lied to me. It was seriously THE dumbest "ghost town"...if you would even call it that. I explored a little, hoping to find something worth looking at and the rest tried to catch lizards (which is something I used to do with my siblings when my dad would take us out). Here is proof of the outing...
The lizard was facing Linds but I am too slow and missed it.
They caught not one, but two!
When we set him (we decided that it was a He) free we put him on the town sign.
Joe and Rob being stealth.
When they caught this one, he was so small and his tail fell off. It was so weird.
Examining the catch.

Lame excuse for a ghost town. You can't see it here but there is a full on neighborhood right next to this. Yeah...a neighborhood with PEOPLE. This is a mine. This town used to mine silver.

Cacti
Can someone please tell me what is growing on this plant?!?
So next time we have visitors, we are NOT going to a ghost town but to Zion instead to hike Angel's Landing. I have learned my lesson.

Vegas with Joe and Linds
Linds...why are you making that face...lol! I told you I was going to put this on my blog. This is us waiting in line.
Joe and Linds came down for Labor Day weekend and we hung all weekend long. Since Vegas is only an hour and a half away, we decided to go see a show. We went to La Reve and got a huge discount thanks to Joe's military discount. It was such a good show. Then we went to a really nice buffet and went shopping at the outlet mall. It was so fun to get to hang with Joe and Linds and I hope they come down again so we can go to another show (and this time have Jake and Ash some too!!). So guys lets hit up Phantom of the Opera..???? Let make it a Brandt outing.
Long Overdue
We got back to Utah at the end of August some time. These are pictures from our last night in Fresno and my brother, Garry's birthday party. We miss them SO much!! It has been hard living in St. George away from family. It was way fun for us to get to spend the whole summer with them. Anyway, since we have been back I have been crazy busy with school that I have had no time to blog. Sorry about that. We went up to visit more family in Ogden and Orem and sadly I forgot my camera. I do have pictures on my phone that I might try to put on here. School is going really good. I am VP of the DSNA (Dixie Student Nursing Association) and I think I may have taken on a little too much responsibility. Ha! It will be fun though. We are a service driven club and I am so excited to be involved in our community as a nurse. I am counting down the days until I graduate and we get to move back close to our family. Rob is also going to school fulltime. He is taking some spanish and math classes towards his major. Really, we haven't been doing anything too exciting....so I will leave you with the crazy pictures.
It waws so hard to actually leave. We were trying to get into our car and go but we could tell that they didn't want us to leave. We didn't want to go either.

A lot of these pictures are just us goofing around.

My laptop crashed this week so I am doing all this on the Mac. I usually go through the pictures and correct the red eye and such but didn't this time. It is so much easier to use my laptop to do that so I just decided to forget about fixing the pictures. Hope you all still enjoy. Oh and I am not spell checking this either so just deal with it...LOL
